In an effort to debrief all the pieces I finish here is a random artwork I did a few weeks ago.
Honestly, I’m not sure why I did this. I had an idea, I thought it would be fun and I was in struggle mode and barely doing anything but scrolling. So I made myself get up, got out a sketch pad and drew up a house I’d seen on pinterest.

The initial idea was a far less detailed colour block picture hinting at the shape of the building to give an impression of a white washed Greek Isles style villa. But when I sat down to sketch out the ‘basic shape’ I ended up during something far more detailed than I intended. And had instant regret that the project I had expected to spend a couple of hours on was blowing out.

And boy did it blow out. It was another 5 days before I had enough to call it finished. Is it finished? Yeah I guess I don’t think I’d come back to it. Am I happy with it? Eh, not really, it was a thing. It reminded me I don’t really like painting. I like things to be detailed but don’t really have the precision with brushes to get the detail I want while keeping that control to prevent a brush slip that frustratingly changes the size or shape of the little thing I’m working on.
Frustrating.

I do love how the pebbled road turned out, but I do wish I’d stuck to a more vague picture, it would have been interesting to see how that would have turned out. Though I probably would have hated it for lack of detail.
So there we go a quick Sunday afternoon project that absorbed my week!
